EDU-03 TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNIOCATION IN EDUCATION : SEMINAR - AUDIO VISUAL AIDS (Definition & Importance)
AUDIO VISUAL AIDS
Audio Visual Aids are also called instructional material. Audio
literally means “hearing” and “visual” means that which is found by seeing. So,
all such aids, which endeavor to make the knowledge clear to us through our
sense are called “Audio Visual Aids” or Instructional Material. Audio visual
aids play an important role in making the teaching learning process more
interesting, effective and permanent. The aids help in stimulating the sensory
organs like ears and eyes to facilitate quick comprehension of the message by
audience. These can also help teachers to communicate messages or information
in places where regular teaching fails. Audio-Visual aids motivate them towards
the subjects they don't find interesting. It is a known fact that individuals tend to forget
things. With creative methods like images of characters, objects, and
voiceovers, it attracts the attention of students. It also helps them to retain
what they learn.
These aids helps the students to gain a positive understanding of the
topic. The conceptual learning experience stimulates self-activity in students.
These aids are highly successful for students with special needs like hearing
and visual disabilities. Several Audio-Visual aids are helping students with
their education. Some of the examples are graphical or pictorial
representation, flow charts, diagrams, etc.

aids. Non projected aids are classified into graphic aids, display boards,
three dimensional aids and audio aids.
Example; chalk board,
charts, models, etc.
3.Activity Aids: There
are certain learning situations in which student participation through direct
experiences can be easily incorporated, these are called activity aids. The
activity teaching aids are really of great value as they put students in a role
